Panasonic LUMIX FZ80 4K under $400

Camera which is built around some compromises remember this camera as an equivalent focal length in 35 millimeter full frame terms are from 20 up to 2,400 millimeters. that's how we get the x 60 zoom the actual lens will give you some compromises in terms of its optical design to make sure that we get sharp focus at the wide angle and also at the telephoto setting. aThose compromises also coming the aperture range that the camera will support unlike the offset 300 or 330 which restricts the zoom to 600 millimeters. The optical design of that lens is such that we can keep a constant aperture of F 2 point 8 .so even if we're using 600 millimeters effective focal length we still got F 2.8 which is a nice bright aperture allows us to shoot nice shallow depth-of-field pictures. And in lower light conditions now here with the acetate so when we use in the extreme telephoto lens the aperture drops to F 5.9.

So, we're almost losing three stops of light by using that extended telephoto setting. That means that we either have to use the slow shutter speed to get the right exposure or use a higher ISO and both of those give us image problems. Slow shutter speed might give us camera shake or at least subject motion blur and high ISO might give us a midnight. remember this is a one to thirty sensor to enable us to get to these long magnifications so again that has problems .with noise the lowest ISO this camera supports in its native mode is all 80 .The recommendations is to use this camera between ISO 80 and ISO 400. 400 would be suggested absolute maximum even in bright sunlight because if want large enlargements all you want to crop it on your enlargement you'll find that the image is far too noisy to get give a decent image. now the camera just support raw if you want to try and process those files a little bit better to try and smooth out some of that noise .and you can use some of the tricks in the photo styles if you don't want to shoot JPEG have reducing the sharpening and the noise reduction and then doing your own post-processing. but first of all  be able to get good pictures from the FCAT you are needing to understand the compromises .that have been made with the camera where you can use the camera what settings to use and what sort of results to expect .

Let’s go through each of the intelligent auto and intelligent auto plus modes .those are the most that most people will be most comfortable using when they first buy this camera .if you turn the camera to the IA position and then select IA plus the camera takes full control of picture taking for you and in 90% of the cases that image is pretty good. And you can use it in social media you can make small enlargements from it if you want to make larger enlargements. Then you've got to take control of the camera and tame the way that the camera uses ISO in some instances. So we'll be going through that when we look at the semi-automatic modes that's a programmed Auto and the aperture and shutter priority mode .now the strength of this camera I believe is in the 4k video mode you can shoot 4k video mode. Even if you want to put it on at any to be timeline you get four times the resolution. You can either crop into the image or your just notice or enhance the resolution for the fact that we're copying down from 4k to 1080p. Obviously you haven't got a microphone input with this camera so you need to be using the internal mics or using an external audio recorder to capture better audio. and we'll be discussing that when we look at shooting video with this particular camera we'll also look at the post focus mode in the 4k option .and that allows the camera to cycle through the 49 area focus take a picture each one of those and then we can actually cycle through and choose the point of focus. we want for that particular shot we can also use them those images in some circumstances to create a focus stacked image to give us deeper depth of field .that we can normally get with the camera also we're looking at time-lapse and stop-motion again .they're features that are available with this camera it doesn't have a remote input so the only way you can control the camera is by using the Panasonic image up.

I'll guide you how to set that up with the camera and use it to start and stop recording video set the parameters or use it as a remote shutter .if you're just using in the stills mode now most people are going to buy this because of the extreme long zoom Nick and with the x 125 times zoom which is crazy. Even things like heat haze or atmospheric pollution on a day like today when the sun's been out for a while trying to take distant pictures. You will notice that you'll get total image segregation because of heat haze smog on the atmosphere. You’ll get heat rising which causes that shimmer effect and that just destroys the image. a normal distances up to a hundred yards or so 100 meters you can get good pictures but when you're shooting for something like a mile or two mile .which you can get nice close-up pictures using the 2400 millimeters .but we're suffering today from heat haze which is degrading the picture so you're not going to get it at its best advantage in cold weather. Obviously you want to get no heat disturbance you are going to get better images with the camera.

Now a lot of people buying these because they're going on so far they want those long focal lengths to enable them to capture great close-ups of wild cats .except while they're on safari by itself poses some problems mostly safaris tend to go off early in the morning .and just capture images just after light and that means you're working in low-light conditions and this is not a camera for shooting in low-light. if you can capture the images during normal bright sunlight you're going to be over the moon with the images .you can get provide you're not shooting over great distances and heat haze is going to ruin your images. You’ll get some really good close-ups with this camera so that's it for the Panasonic LUMIX FZ80 4K. The nice package for capturing unforgettable moments.
