The legendary Elvis Presley passed away 45 years ago

 

Tuesday, August 16 marks the 45th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death. 45 years after his death, he remains the King and one of the best symbols of American mainstream society.

On January 8, 1935, Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, to Vernon and Gladys Presley. In 1948, his parents relocated to Memphis, where he graduated from Humes High School in 1953.

Elvis' most memorable significant melodic impacts were the popular and down home music of the time, gospel music he heard as a child in chapel, and dark R&B he listened to on the famous Beale Street. In Tupelo, he purchased his most memorable guitar.
